Alphabetland is the eighth studio album by American punk rock band X. Released digitally in April 2020, it is their first studio release in 27 years and the first with their original line-up in the past 35 years. The release has received positive reviews from critics. Alphabetland was recorded across several sessions in 2019 and 2020 with producer Rob Schnapf, who has previously worked with Elliott Smith, Beck, and Joyce Manor.
Even though these songs date from a time when the band's only songwriters were vocalist Exene Cervenka and Doe, all tracks are credited to all four members of X and the recording sessions coincided with the individual musicians improving their relationships with one another.
Vinyl LP pressing including digital download. 2020 release from the indie pop duo. The Naked and Famous' album reasserts the group as one of modern indie-pop's most exciting sonic trailblazers, taking them to emotionally inspired depths, while maintaining the fresh effervescence that has led to over 600 million collective streams to date. While they have sonically mastered the art of dreamy, hook-laden synth-pop, The Naked and Famous have stuck to their guns as far as intimate storytelling. Recover is largely an autobiographical record rooted in a powerful sentiment of survival, and of the very human process of self-preservation - of saving, choosing and celebrating oneself in a world constantly trying to put us down.
With this album Neck Deep wants to continue carving out their own unique space within rock, punk, and alternative music. They have no delusions of "saving rock" or being the biggest rock band out there. They just want to remain Neck Deep and be an even bigger, better Neck Deep than before. They understand their roots are in pop punk, but want to expand on their sound in their own way, taking inspiration from artists like The Beatles and Nirvana who did things their own way and still were able to be massive.

STRFKR has always been a constantly evolving entity, growing over the years from rambunctious beginnings into the manicured electro-pop perfection they exhibited on their last studio album, 2016's pristine Being No One, Going Nowhere. New album Future Past Life breaks new ground, dialing back some of the high-gloss production they're known for to craft songs that are stripped down, spaced out and somehow as visceral as they are dream-like.
In 2014, STRFKR's principal songwriter/lead vocalist Josh Hodges was staying in Amsterdam for a few months, working on the music that became 2016's Being No One, Going Nowhere. By complete chance, a European traveller who was crashing at Hodges' house in L.A. while he was abroad connected him with some like-minded musicians in Amsterdam, Mathias Janmat and David Hoogerheide. Even though they were more or less strangers, the three musicians clicked almost instantly, coming up with new songs that would eventually make up the bulk of Future Past Life. The immaculate but danceable pop that has long been STRFKR's calling card is pushed into exciting new places on Future Past Life. It's a strange and beautiful sonic environment, one that finds STRFKR growing as they embrace the chance and spontaneity that brought these songs about in the first place.

Home and the people who make it have captivated Lori McKenna for years. Over the last three decades, as she became a wife and mother of five, she has also emerged as one of the most respected, prolific singer-songwriters in popular music. Her 2016 release The Bird and the Rifle netted three Grammy nominations, along with Americana Music Association nods––all firsts for McKenna as an artist. Then, she made history: In 2016, she became the first woman ever to win the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year two years in a row thanks to co-writing Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and penning Tim McGraw’s no. 1 “Humble and Kind” solo. Both songs also clinched back-to-back Grammy wins for Best Country Song. In 2017, she became the Academy of Country Music’s first female Songwriter of the Year. The Tree , her eleventh studio album, was nominated for the 2019 Americana Awards Album of the Year. 2020 brings a new record for McKenna, "The Balladeer", produced by Dave Cobb.
Few artists understand the human condition like 6-time Grammy nominee Brandy Clark. Working again with acclaimed producer Jay Joyce, Your Life is a Record takes her unerring eye for detail and a genre-melting sense of melody to examine personal truths, revelations and emancipations with wit, grace and compassion. Working with just four acoustic-based musicians, intimacy was the goal. Memphis strings and horns, guest appearances from Randy Newman (“Bigger Boat”) and guitarist John Osborne color in the sketches – creating a depth to what is easily Clark’s most revelatory record yet
Funeral is the 13th studio album from rapper Lil Wayne. It features guest appearances like Big Sean, Lil Baby, Jay Rock, Adam Levine, 2 Chainz, Takeoff, The-Dream, the late XXXTentacion and more. Double LP available on July 10th.
Pop Smoke's legacy continues with the release of his posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon. The album finds Pop's voice in concert with collaborators both old and new such as Quavo, 50 Cent, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, and more. Staying true to his intention to use his debut album to show the breadth of his artistry, on songs like “Got It On Me”, “Enjoy Yourself ft. Karol G”, and “Something Special”, fans will discover a Pop Smoke that they had yet to see -- one that is singing, stepping outside of the Brooklyn drill sound that he helped bring to a global level and more. The release follows breakout mixtapes Meet the Woo and Meet the Woo 2. Before his untimely passing, Pop Smoke was on his way to becoming a mainstream hip-hop giant.
The power of a Winter song is hard to describe, like how the delicate world building of a good book can be more compelling than real life. There's a make-believe, fairy tale surrealism that sets Winter's blend of shoegaze and psychedelia apart while existing in the same universe as the ethereal dream pop of Cocteau Twins and Melody's Echo Chamber.
2 Ravens is by Roger O'Donnell, who plays keys in The Cure. It's a collaboration in part with vocalist and lyricist Jennifer Pague of Vita And The Woolf. It was recorded at Air Edel studios in London and features musicians Alisa Liubarskaya, Miriam Wakeling, Aled Jones, Nadine Sagan and Daniel Degada."
After a five-year hiatus, Belgium singer-songwriter Selah Sue returns with brand-new EP, Bedroom. Barely a year after the release of their acclaimed debut album 'Dogrel' (which charted Top 10 in the UK, earned a Mercury Prize nomination, Fallon performance, and #1 Album of the Year positions for BBC 6Music and Rough Trade), Fontaines DC have returned with an intensely confident, patient, and complex sophomore album. 'A Hero's Death' arrives battered and bruised, albeit beautiful - a heady and philosophical take on the modern world, and its great uncertainty.
The groundbreaking British band’s eighth studio album and first new album in nearly three decades. Founded by visionary singer/lyricist Richard Butler and his brother, bassist Tim Butler, The Psychedelic Furs are among the most significant and lasting bands of the post-punk era, their remarkable canon encompassing seven milestone studio albums and such classic singles as “We Love You,” “Sister Europe,” “Love My Way,” “The Ghost In You,” “Pretty In Pink,” “Heaven,” “Heartbreak Beat,” and “All That Money Wants,” to name but a few. MADE OF RAIN sees the band returning to the fray as relevant and original as ever before, fueled by their always innovative sonic approach and Richard Butler’s evocative, masterful songwriting. Produced by longtime associate Richard Fortus (formerly of Richard and Tim Butler’s acclaimed mid-1990s band, Love Spit Love, and a current member of Guns N’ Roses) and mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, U2, Robert Plant), magnificent reiterations of The Psychedelic Furs’ distinct, desperate wall of sound, melding haunting melodies and driving rhythms with ambition, aggression, and subversive lyrical power.
Created by Dan Campbell, best known as the vocalist of Philadelphia band The Wonder Years, Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties is as much a band as it is a story. The band plays Americana, sometimes with 6 or 8 or 10 people a horn section, banjo, lap steel, strings and more - and sometimes as one man with an acoustic guitar and his voice. The story follows a man named Aaron who, after a series of devastating losses, wanders the country looking for purpose, direction, and redemption. The new album, appropriately titled Live From Asbury Park, was recorded during the band's sold out performance at House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ in December of 2019 and features songs from the the band's first two records. Standard Jacket, Yellow Colored Vinyl w/ Download Card.
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release, the seventh album from the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning R&B/pop singer, songwriter, and actress. B7 is her first studio album since Two Eleven (2012). The album was preceded by the release of "Freedom Rings" as well as lead single "Baby Mama" featuring Chance the Rapper. Brandy's collaboration with Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar, "Love Again" is also included on the album.
The third solo album from the Chilean-American multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, who is a founding member of several bands, including the alternative rock group Eleven, and has been involved with acts such as Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, PJ Harvey, Chris Cornell, Arctic Monkeys, Mark Lanegan and The Desert Sessions, both as a musician and as a producer
Waking Hours, by NYC artist Photay (a.k.a. Evan Shornstein), is a meditation on time and, more specifically, our obsessive need to fill every moment with activity. Photay’s search for calm is at the very core of Waking Hours, and while he admits that making the album was therapeutic, it shouldn’t be mistaken for some sort of healing ambient excursion. The LP is largely electronic, but frequently verges on pop and extensively features Shornstein’s own vocals. The music is intimate and inviting, but it also suggest that Photay is perhaps at his best when he’s blurring genre boundaries.
The new album from Charley Crockett is perhaps even more potent proof of his literal heartbreak than the scar on his chest. After undergoing open heart surgery that saved his life, Charley says he considered calming down for “just a minute” but once he recovered he did just the opposite. He states boldly with one eyebrow raised, “I wanted to make an album that would change the entire conversation about country music.”
That album is Welcome to Hard Times , an aptly-named collection that perfectly fits these troubled days even though it was made just before the pandemic hit. The music was shaped by his heart issues and producer Mark Neill’s desire to make “a dark gothic country record.” Charley certainly knew how to deliver that. “I think you can hear that deep, dark sadness in this record,” he says, “but I think it’s the kind of darkness that will uplift others.”
This sophomore album from GRAMMY-nominated progressive metal five-piece Between the Buried and Me was their first release after catching the attention of Chicago powerhouse Victory Records. This album features the single “Mordecai,” which is still a fan favorite to this day. Originally notable for being the only album of the band’s not to be produced by Jamie King, King came back to remaster this 2020 release.
This is a compilation of the foundational Detroit post-punk group from 1980-83, featuring unheard studio and live tracks, unseen photos, and miscellaneous archival material. It was fronted by the late Larissa Strickland, who would go on to be in post-punk/hardcore/blues-punk group Laughing Hyenas with John Brannon from hardcore legends Negative Approach. Their only release before this was a 7" on Touch and Go's Special Forces imprint, a division of the label that focused on DIY and weirder, more far out stuff that was not as straight-forward punk or hardcore, but still operated with the same spirit and devotion to art creation. All the original L-Seven members (sans the late Larissa Strickland, r.i.p.) as well as Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth helped put this comp together.
Legendary Greek symphonic death metal outfit SEPTICFLESH deliver unto us the long-awaited 'Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX,' a true milestone in the history of extreme metal. Captured at the Metropolitan Theatre in Mexico City in front of a sold out audience of 3200 metal maniacs, this unique live album/concert recording captures the brutality and bombast of the band playing in tandem with the Symphony Experience Orchestra - led by award-winning Maestro Gerardo Urbán Y Fernández - and the National University Of Mexico Children’s and Youth Choir (over 130 musicians total).
Joining them for this one-of-a-kind concert experience is longtime collaborator, clean vocalist, and co-founder Sotiris Vayenas in what marks his first ever North American appearance with the band. In a white-hot set spanning their four critically-acclaimed recent albums – ‘Communion (2008),’ ‘The Great Mass (2011),’ ‘Titan (2014),’ & ‘Codex Omega (2017)’ - the trailblazing quartet unleash their full powers for their first-ever live album recording. 'Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX' is at once impressive, monumental, stunning and arguably the crown-jewel in their already impressive career to date.
Little Steven, The Disciples Of Soul - Men Without Women - [CD+DVD] - Little Steven made his spectacular debut with 1982's Men Without Women, highlighted by a pair of rock radio favorites, "Lyin' In A Bed Of Fire" and "Forever". Little Steven's album now on CD paired with the 1982 Rockpalast live concert DVD.
Double vinyl LP pressing. 2020 reissue. 1000 Hands: Chapter One is the fifteenth studio album by English singer-songwriter and musician Jon Anderson, originally released in March 2019. The album originates from sessions that Anderson had been recording in Big Bear, California, with Brian Chatton in around 1990. Chatton wrote most of the music, played keyboards and also sang. Anderson asked his then Yes bandmates Chris Squire and Alan White to play on the project too. In 2016, producer Michael Franklin contacted Anderson about using the tapes and finishing an album. Further recordings followed at Solar Studios in Orlando, Florida. Along with some newly written material, the final result is 1000 Hands. Other guest musicians include Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice, Rick Derringer, the Tower of Power horn section, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and pianist Chick Corea.
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. 2020 release from the legendary Yes/Asia guitarist. Love Is is Howe's 17th solo record, comprising ten songs: five with current Yes singer, Jon Davison, singing harmonies and playing bass guitar and five instrumental tracks rotating through the running order. The instrumentals keep a highly progressive rock guitar style to the fore, with songs that explore stories of lives lived and lives only just beginning. Many years in the making, Love Is offers a consistently strong and polished listening experience, forging the very best from the writing and playing throughout.
Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack have been making music together as Wye Oak for over a decade, yielding five critically acclaimed LPs in the process. The Baltimore-born, Durham-based pair spent 2012-2019 writing music while living in different parts of the country, but the five songs that make up No Horizon mark the first that Stack and Wasner composed while both lived in Durham. The EP was originally composed in a tight, concentrated timeframe at the end of 2018 and early 2019, and then performed at New York's Merkin Hall as part of Ecstatic Music Festival in collaboration with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. The resulting EP is beautiful and strange: distinctly and recognizably Wye Oak, while simultaneously unlike any other of the band's studio work. Eerie and dreamy, a complicated, unpredictable amalgamation of thoughtful lyrics, steely glints of synths and effects, lithe guitar lines, and the depth of Wasner's voice, it all unfurls with the ease of any Wye Oak song, built out by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus' presence, their tangle of crystalline voices presenting like an orchestral arrangement.
ROMARE returns with his brand new album HOME. A euphoric and uplifting record with a guarantee to be a favorite on the dancefloor. HOME will be available on 2LP, CD and Digital formats. The release of this new record comes after a lifetime of being on the move. Fairhurst spent the majority of his life moving around, and was used to the nomadic lifestyle as his career progressed. Now he has found a place he can call home forever.
Future-focused and resolute in the mantra that rhythm is a dancer, the Flight Tower EP is helmed by vocalist Felicia Douglass. In opener and first single 'Lose Your Love,' she declares 'switch up the perspective!' And that's exactly what these songs do: the Flight EP is the most complete presentation yet of Dirty Projectors as modern vocal group.
William Tyler composed the music for First Cow, the new A24 film directed by Kelly Reichardt, almost entirely on several of his guitars and a dulcimer. In First Cow, Kelly Reichardt once again trains her perceptive and patient eye on the Pacific Northwest, this time evoking an authentically hardscrabble early nineteenth century way of life. A taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although it's longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner's prized milking cow. Reichardt again shows her distinct talent for depicting the peculiar rhythms of daily living and ability to capture the immense, unsettling quietude of rural America.
Caravan Château —the beguiling 11-song reflection on the house of mirrors that is love— is the latest album from Los Angeles native singer/songwriter Alex Izenberg. Izenberg creates a sophisticated world of his own here, where songs that are somehow understated but lavish map the vagaries of our uncertain hearts the way wrinkles chronicle a lifetime of experience.
With the help of a handful of collaborators including Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear), Jonathan Rado (Foxygen, Whitney, Lemon Twigs), Ari Balouzian (Tobias Jesso Jr) and others, Izenberg creates songs that are easy to adore but hard to define. Izenberg’s sharp songs are the bait that first brings you into Caravan Château, but that deliberate ambiguity is what brings you back repeatedly, hoping to tease out the riddles of being inside these stunning tunes.
Izenberg emerged in late 2016 with Harlequin , a fetching collection of hazy art-pop hymns praised for their “sweetness and heart.” Not long after the album’s release, Izenberg became emotionally unstable, though, beset by a failed relationship and inevitable post-debut questions about what came next. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2012, Izenberg has spent a lifetime learning to cope with and overcome fear, to turn doubt into power rather than paralysis.
For Izenberg, music is a lifeline, or the lens that helps him refocus the world and make sense of his mess of feelings. He pulls art and existence together as if by tensile wires, one giving necessary support to the other. On Caravan Château , the intensity of that connection radiates through every song, Izenberg working through some of life’s hardest feelings by writing songs as soft as his heart
Best known as one-half of acclaimed duo The Kills, Alison Mosshart is releasing music under her own name for the first time. 'Rise,' a searing, slow-burner and 'It Ain't Water', it's melancholy acoustic lament of a B-side.
Golden ticket Yellow Vinyl. Growth with no reward. Finding strength in your less desirable traits. Coming up with the perfect comeback hours later in bed, glaring at the ceiling. Asking yourself: am I improving, or am I just changing into something unrecognizable? Chicago quartet Ganser probe the futility of striving for self-growth during the chaos of our times for dark comedy and jagged sounds on their potent new LP, Just Look at That Sky. Equal parts Space Odyssey and Ghost World, Ganser released their debut LP Odd Talk in 2018 to favorable coverage from The New York Times, Billboard, and Stereogum. Building on their dissociative disorder namesake, the album's tone vacillated between frenzied and contemplative, probing on questions of communication, intimacy, and avoidance. On Just Look at That Sky, Ganser further explores the personal inner climate of uncertain times. Opening track "Lucky" announces an explosive energy that evokes the Midwest noise-rock legacy of bands like Jesus Lizard and Shellac, while embracing a more colorful palette of post-punk and art rock influences. Nadia Garofalo and Alicia Gaines, a self-described two-headed monster who share lead vocal duties, can bring both a recalcitrant cool worthy of Kim Gordon and a booming sneer that recalls Poly Styrene; the discordant interplay of Charlie Landsman's guitar and Brian Cundiff's drums on standouts "Self Service" and "Bad Form" build to blistering climaxes that wouldn't feel out of place on Red Medicine-era Fugazi. And then there's Ganser's lyrics: manic explorations of worry and dread mark this record, the epic messiness of daily life in our damaged times attacked with sardonic specificity as often as generalized doom. Just Look at That Sky isn't afraid to acknowledge that we're all Extremely Online all the time, but rather explicitly owns it. These songs chart inner monologues of emphatic confusion, emotions already deeply felt further ratcheted up by the anxiety of always having too much information about other people, and always being just one tweet or status update away from knowing what everyone really thinks about us. This culminates in closing track "Bags for Life," which imagines how online discourse might tackle a front-row seat for the end of the world. These are songs that never shy away from ugliness and confusion, that believe embracing the totality of the self sometimes means leaning into our dickish behavior. In the past, some listeners have had trouble reconciling non-male voices with the sorts of topics Ganser writes about, but that comes to an end with Just Look at That Sky. Co-produced with Electrelane's Mia Clarke and engineer Brian Fox, this is an assured, fully realized triumph of a record from an art-punk band that's figured out how to focus on making great art, even if everything else around them falls apart.
Brothers Osborne are set to release their third studio album, Skeletons, on October 9th. They are 2x CMA Award winners for Vocal Duo Of The Year and winners for the 2018 ACM New Artist of the Year. At various points along the trajectory between then and now, Travis have sold millions of albums (just under three million of The Man Who in the UK alone); they’ve been the subject of an award-winning feature length documentary (Almost Fashionable) and Fran has elicited acclaim from Paul McCartney, Elton John and Graham Nash – all songwriters whose ability to divine a timeless melody out of thin air has sustained them through the decades. ’10 Songs’ is an album that holds you in its own emotional microclimate at the outset and keeps you there. It’s also a grown-up record. ’10 Songs’ is a record about the way life comes at love and what love does to weather those challenges. “This is no rehearsal/This is the take,” sings Fran at the beginning of Waving At The Window, over an insistent piano hook, “Promises you once kept/Are going to break Every track on this album carries an even load. No passengers here. Nowhere to hide. “I write songs in an antiquated way,” explains their creator, “Sitting at the bottom of the bed, ‘pouring my simple sorrow to the sound hole and my knee’, as Joni Mitchell put it.” As a songwriter based in L.A., Fran Healy doesn’t need anyone to tell him this is no longer how it’s done. It’s far from uncommon for the credits on successful modern pop songs to feature upwards of ten writers. Hits by committee. “It’s fine,” notes Fran, “Personally though, I’ll take ten songs written by one person over one song written by ten people. And if I feel that way, then surely someone else must do too.”
Capitol Records will release IN A DREAM, Troye Sivan's new six-song concept EP. "I'm proud of this music and excited to have it out in the world." LP pressed on Blue Mist 180-gram vinyl.

On Long Time Passing, the trailblazing Kronos Quartet celebrates the music of Pete Seeger and rejoices in the spirit, inspiration, and fearlessness inherent in his life’s work. Along with guests Sam Amidon, Maria Arnal, Brian Carpenter, Meklit, Lee Knight, and Aoife O’Donovan, the group examines Seeger’s celebration of beauty and the pleasure of singing together. Through the power of these eternally relevant cries for unity and moral integrity, the album articulates the responsibility we have as citizens and members of a greater community to question war and injustice, and to develop the courage to raise our voices together both in word and song.

Christened Brooklyn Rap’s “Homecoming King” by New York Times, Pop Smoke was the Borough’s next icon in the wings. On vinyl for the first time since 2005, this fifth anniversary edition of Weyes Blood’s Cardamom Times features new cover art and demonstrates Mering’s reverence of devotional music and the avant-garde, channeling the domestic hymns of Sybille Baer through the lens of Baltimore’s experimental DIY scene; the minimal drones of Terry Riley accompanied by the voices of the Sacre Coeur; the confrontational words of Anaïs Nin with the warm embrace of St. Augustine. With printed insert & download card.

An explosive album of pain, rage and fear with some of the most direct and confrontational lyrics of his four-decade career. According to Bob, “This is the catchiest batch of protest songs I’ve ever written in one sitting.”
The Buckleys, a three-piece band featuring siblings Sarah, Lachlan, and Molly, embody a brand of “hippie country” representing the infectious personality and spirited conscience that the band maintains. The debut album features the singles “Money,” “Leave Me Hanging On,” and the title track “Daydream” which scored a #1 single at Australian country radio, followed by “I’m Comin’ For Ya (Love),” which hit #3. Nominated for New Talent Of The Year Award at the 2020 Country Music Awards Australian.
If 'Joy As An Act of Resistance.' was meant to detail the band's manifesto, then their highly anticipated third album ' 'Ultra Mono' - is the sound of IDLES heading into battle, battering ram in hand, for those tenets. Sonically constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record (Kenny Beats even helped with programming on several tracks), the songs double down on the vitriolic sneer and blunt social commentary of their past work. Not far beneath the surface of their self-admitted sloganeering lies a deeply complex and brutally relevant album that chews up clichés and spits them out as high art for the masses. Active presence and self-acceptance also stand at the core of 'Ultra Mono,' with much of the songwriting done on-the-spot in the recording booth, and the phrase 'I am I' serving as a lyrical and spiritual mantra throughout. Ultimately 'Ultra Mono' is a celebration of community.
Having not hit the road for most of the 80s, The Steel Wheels Tour was an astounding return for the Rolling Stones, not least as it was the longest they had by that point undertaken. It was also to be their last with Bill Wyman. Steel Wheels Live was recorded towards the end of the band's 60-date run through the stadiums of North America, in the second half of 1989. Special guest appearances from Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker. Limited Edition Color Pressing.

Part I features eight pieces, and Parts II and III six pieces each, which have been entirely newly arranged, produced by Johann Scheerer, and performed by Omar Rodríguez-López and a range of guest musicians. Only very few songwriters and arrangers have succeeded in leaving their mark on several generations with their compositions and their performances. Omar Rodríguez-López is one of these exceptional artists. Just hearing his name brings a shine to the eyes of aficionados of hard or virtuoso or cosmic music. Listening to his music you can feel it: This is someone who completely abandons himself to his art - and someone with an incredible amount of knowledge about the depth of possibility guitar music can explore. During the 2000s Omar Rodríguez-López released an astonishing variety of solo works. On these recordings the artist used pieces that had accumulated over the years. However, what has so far been missing is a release that brings together the pieces from that era. This wait now has come to an end for here are THE CLOUDS HILL TAPES, Part I - III featuring 20 tracks that present his music in a new light. Omar Rodríguez-López has long considered the Hamburg Clouds Hill studio his creative second home. He has known the producer Johann Scheerer for 15 years and they are close friends as well as creative partners. "Johann is great at what he does. What makes him truly special is his instinct. This helps him find most interesting sounds, make the right decision", is how Omar Rodríguez-López describes it. Whenever the two meet, a shared creative process ensues immediately. This is just what happened at the end of 2018: Really, Omar Rodríguez-López had come to Hamburg as a visitor at the Clouds Hill Festival, but Johann Scheerer invited him to use free studio capacity for a session in which to re-record outstanding pieces from the previous solo albums. "We got the band together, rehearsed for two days - and then we ran the tapes", Omar Rodríguez -López recalls. These original tapes can incidentally be seen on the covers of the three albums resulting from the sessions. THE CLOUDS HILL TAPES will be one of the reference works in the musical cosmos of this unique artist. The Clouds Hill Tapes Pts. I, II & III
Free Love thrives on collaborative frisson—two people pushing one another into new territories with the shared assurance of knowing they’re in good company, a sort of trust fall in reverse. Yes, these 10 songs are some of Sylvan Esso’s most direct. And most delicate. And most intricate. And most urgent. Free Love carries the confidence of two people delighted to be all those things, together, at once.
Surfer Blood's Carefree Theatre, out May 1, 2020 on Kanine Records, is their fifth studio album. The Carefree Theater in West Palm Beach, FL was the only real venue in town for most of John Paul Pitts childhood. It was where he would go for anything from shows to theatrical productions. It was just the kind of exposure that showed him there was a whole world outside of Florida, the kind of experience that would inform a twenty-one year old student to drop out of school and start a band. He did just that. Surfer Blood's rise was remarkable - and just recently recounted in detail with the 10 year anniversary of their debut and breakout album Astro Coast. A decade ago. That's a long time. Where a lot can happen. On May 1, 2020, Surfer Blood will release Carefree Theatre an album that bring them full circle. Pitts returned to Florida, returned to Kanine and created an album worth of short pop songs.
The Ascension is the eighth studio album from singer, songwriter and composer Sufjan Stevens and is the long awaited follow-up to Stevens’ Carrie & Lowell. One of the most acclaimed albums of 2015, The New York Times praised Carrie & Lowell as “restrained and meticulous” while Pitchfork declared it “a masterpiece.”
In the time between Carrie & Lowell and the forthcoming The Ascension, Stevens also released Oscar-nominated music for the Luca Guadagnino film Call Me By Your Name; a collaborative album entitled Planetarium with Nico Muhly, Bryce Dessner (The National) and James Mcalister; The Decalogue, a solo piano work performed by Timo Andres; and scored several works for ballet: Reflections (Houston Ballet) and Principia (NYCB).
The Ascension is musically expansive and sweeping in thematic scope.

Following her debut album RISE, which reached No.1 in the Classical charts, Classic BRIT Award-winning saxophonist Jess Gillam’s second album TIME is being released on Friday 25 September on Decca Classics. With a range of styles, moods and influences, the album is designed to reflect the arc of energy within the passing of a day, giving the listener a moment to immerse themselves in an oasis of sound and reflection. Curated by Jess herself, the album’s music is inspired by minimalism, and at the heart is Michael Nyman’s virtuosic ‘Where the Bee Dances’ concerto (recorded at Abbey Road with the Aurora Orchestra and Nicolas Collon), which Jess performed in her BBC Young Musician 2016 final. Framed around this are shorter tracks from pioneering and genre-breaking artists, including two brand new commissions from pianist and composer Luke Howard, and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory. Collaboration is a key component of the album; many of the tracks were refined in the studio with the Jess Gillam Ensemble, made up of Jess’ musician friends, and with the composers and arrangers themselves. Jess is forging a new path in classical music, and this album features experimentation with sounds, with instruments such as Glass Harmonica, Bass Synth, Fender Rhodes piano and Bass Guitar woven into some of the arrangements.
“We have constant cycles all around us: the earth orbiting around the sun, the day passing, an hour passing and I think sometimes we forget to stop and look at where we are. The music on this album will reflect one of these cycles: from sleeping, to waking, to working, moving, reflecting and sleeping.” - Jess Gillam
In the five years sinceWill Butlerreleased his debut album,Policy, he’s toured the world both solo and as a member of Arcade Fire, released theFriday Nightlive album, recorded and released Arcade Fire’s international #1 albumEverything Now, earned his master’s degree in public policy from Harvard, hosted a series of touring town halls on local issues (police contracts, prison reform, municipal paid sick leave, voting rights), and spent time raising his three children.
He also found the time and inspiration to write and record a new album,Generations.
“My first record,Policy, was a book of short stories,” Butler says. “Generationsis more of a novel—despairing, funny, a little bit epic… A big chunk of this record is asking: What’s my place in American history? What’s my place in America’s present? Both in general—as a participant, as we all are, in the shit that’s going down—but, also extremely particularly: me asWillButler, rich person, white person, Mormon, Yankee, parent, musician of some sort, I guess. What do I do? What can I do? The record asks that question over and over, even if it’s not much for answers.”
While the songs onGenerationscontain their fair share of dread and regret, there is ultimately a lightness that shines through Butler’s music. That brightness is at its most intense when he and his solo band—Miles Francis, Sara Dobbs, and Julie and Jenny Shore—performon stage. Their electricity is palpable throughoutGenerations, with the bulk of the new songs having been worked out live. Wild synth production—gnarly bass synths with live drums—andanthemicbacking vocals as on first single “Surrender” are punctuated by intimate, direct moments: Butler’s voice cracking on “Fine” as he conjures his ancestors, and “Promised,” a meditation on friendship, how lives are built together, and how and why they drift apart.
Generationswas recorded and produced by Butler in the basement of his home in Brooklyn. Tracking finished in March 2020, as New York closed down for the pandemic. Half the record was mixed in Montreal by longtime Arcade Fire engineer Mark Lawson, the other half by Brooklyn-based producerShiftee(who is, incidentally, bandmate Julie Shore’s husband and Will’s brother-in-law).
Generationsopens a dialogue with the world. It posits answers—and deals with those answers being refuted. Ultimately, it navigates the conversation as a way to find the truth… or at least a way forward.
Critically acclaimed duo, The War And Treaty (Michael & Tanya Trotter), make a triumphant return with new album Hearts Town. The 12 tracks reflect their strongest material to date with military veteran Michael’s production/songwriting prowess front and center. Hearts Town has a dynamic sound, joyfully blending Southern soul with elements of gospel, country, rock ‘n roll, blues. Few acts today can surpass the extraordinary passion and boundless energy of this Nashville-based husband/wife team.

Small World reflects that odd sense of distance one develops from being in a place that's so close yet so far, so undeniably locked in the gravitational pull of the center of the universe, only with a language and lore all it's own.

Having surveyed the 'Seventies with our first two vinyl ventures (Dick's Picks Vols. 24 & 34) into the Grateful Dead catalog, we really wanted to travel back to the band's 'Sixties beginnings for our next multi-LP magnum opus'and boy, did we 'pick' the right shows! Recorded but a few months after the shows that formed Live Dead, and featuring a spellbinding version of the 'Dark Star'/'St. Stephen'/'The Eleven' medley that was that album's centerpiece, Dick's Picks Vol. 26 stands as a worthy counterpoint to what is one of the greatest 'official' live albums in rock 'n' roll history. Add in the fact it also captures the band working on material for the forthcoming album Aoxomoxoa'including an incredible version of 'Mountains of the Moon''and serves up a real live Dead rarity with a rendition of Jimmy Reed's 'I Know It's a Sin,' and this is a Pick that's clearly worthy, one, of coming out on vinyl, and, two, of some special treatment when it does! Which is a challenge we at Real Gone Music relished; so, in addition to re-printing Bear's notes from the original CD release on the LP insert, we enlisted Bear's son Starfinder Stanley to provide some added context on behalf of the Owsley Stanley Foundation, from whence the tapes for these shows come. And speaking of those tapes, this 4-LP set is mastered for vinyl by Jeffrey Norman at Mockingbird Mastering, with lacquers cut by Jeff Powell, who got his start at Memphis' legendary Ardent Studios and has worked with everybody from Bob Dylan to Gregg Allman to Irma Thomas. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Furnace Record Pressing, the whisper-quiet test pressings were approved by engineer Jeffrey Norman, Dead archivist David Lemieux, and Real Gone's own Gordon Anderson, so the audio experience that awaits is truly a cut above. As for the packaging, each of the four LPs is housed inside a polyvinyl sleeve carefully nestled (with extra padding!) inside a two-piece hardshell box with insert. We are only pressing 1500 hand-numbered copies of Dick's Picks Vol. 26; if prior experience is any guide, they will not last long!

And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore," she said, letting fans know she poured all her whims, dreams, fears, musings into the 17 tracks. "I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine; Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver, William Bowery and Jack Antonoff.”

BRONSON, the brand new group by ODESZA and Golden Features, unveils their debut self-titled album on Foreign Family Collective / Ninja Tune. BRONSON is available on clear LP, limited edition black and yellow LP, and CD. GRAMMY-nominated duo ODESZA and acclaimed Australian producer Golden Features have come together to form the powerhouse group BRONSON. The self-titled album BRONSON pushes the soundscapes of their previous projects to explore the darker edges of dance music. The LP features heavyweight collaborations from lau.ra of Ultraista, Gallant, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The BRONSON album reflects on their respective needs to challenge personal struggles, both internal and external. Moreover, the trio recognized that their own battles were merely microcosms of the surrounding world. The hope was to craft a body of work that was reflective of that duality of lightness and darkness inherent to the human condition.
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release. Washed Out is Atlanta-based producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Ernest Greene. Over three enchanting, critically-lauded albums and an EP, his music has proved both transportive and visual, each release inviting listeners into immersive, self-contained universes. With Purple Noon, his fourth album, and his return to Sub Pop, he delivers the most accessible Washed Out creation to date. For Purple Noon, Greene again wrote, recorded, and produced the entirety of the album, with mixing handled by frequent collaborator Ben H. Allen (Paracosm, Within and Without). Production of the album followed a brief stint of writing for other artists (most notably Sudan Archives) which enabled Greene to explore genres like R&B and modern pop. These brighter, more robust sounds made their way into the songs of Purple Noon and mark a new chapter for Greene as a producer and songwriter. The vocals are front and center, tempos are slower, beats bolder, and there's a more comprehensive depth of dynamics. Capism of Washed Out's oeuvre, taking the music to dazzling new heights.
Luke Bryan will be releasing his latest album on August 7th. `Born Here Live Here Die Here' includes the #1 hit "Knockin' Boots" and his current hit single "Whatever She Wants Tonight". “Whoosh!” sees Deep Purple for the third time joining forces with producer Bob Ezrin, who invited the band to Nashville to write and record new songs. Together they created the most versatile album in their collaboration.
Deep Purple “stretched out in all directions” without any limitation, letting their creativity go. “Deep Purple is putting the Deep back into Purple” was the half-joking motto in the studio after the first songs made it clear that Ezrin and Purple were on their path to creating an album pushing the boundaries of time, while voicing their resentment about the current situation of the world and addressing all generations.
In recent years, Deep Purple has progressively moved into new areas, piquing the interest of fans who were not born when the mighty Purple machine ruled the music world. Their holy grail of “In Rock” (1970), “Machine Head” (1972) and “Made In Japan” (1973) catapulted Deep Purple to the top in concert grosses and album sales around the world, with tracks such as “Smoke On The Water” ascending them to mega-status.
The band’s 20th studio album “inFinite” has become one of their most successful albums ever, braking chart records accumulated by the hard rock legends over an impressive 50-year history.
Roger Glover and Bob Ezrin in conversation (approx. 1h long in-depth talk during the mixing of “Whoosh!”, filmed in London) Live At Hellfest 2017 (previously unreleased)
Laura Marling’s exquisite seventh album ‘Song For Our Daughter’ arrives almost without pre-amble or warning in the midst of uncharted global chaos, and yet instantly and tenderly offers a sense of purpose, clarity and calm. As a balm for the soul, this full-blooded new collection could be posited as Laura’s richest to date, but in truth it’s another incredibly fine record by a British artist who rarely strays from delivering incredibly fine records. Taking much of the production reins herself, alongside long-time collaborators Ethan Johns and Dom Monks, Laura has layered up lush string arrangements and a broad sense of scale to these songs without losing any of the intimacy or reverence we’ve come to anticipate and almost take for granted from her throughout the past decade.
Triple 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Live archive release. Live recordings from 1968 and 1970 have recently been discovered of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Not much is known about the live recordings. Discovered unlabeled and by pure luck in the US, their era has been authenticated by experts of the band's blues origins. Fleetwood Mac has given their full approval for the release of these tapes. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac had a short but hugely prolific career, with the Vol. 1 1968 recording being at the early stages of the band, and this Vol. 2 1970 recording will, in contrast, be one of their final shows before Peter left the band. The recordings were discovered in incredibly good condition considering they have been untouched for over 40 years; they have been restored and provide a vital insight into the very earliest incarnation of one of the world's biggest bands.
Sometime in 2006 or 2007, Jason Molina moved from the midwest to London. Separated from his bandmates and friends and never one for idleness, Molina explored his new home with fervor. Sometimes he'd head out on foot, often with no destination in mind. Other times, he'd pick a random tube stop and find his way back home. He'd pick up on arcane trivia about London's rich history, and if the historical factoids weren't available - or weren't quite to his liking - Molina was quite comfortable conjuring his own history. His adoration of The Great American Tall Tales like John Henry and Paul Bunyan's blue ox Babe stretched across the Atlantic, where he created his own personal Tall Tales. And when he learned of the London Wall's seven gates (itself a misconception), Molina went ahead and called it eight, carving out a gate just for himself. The eighth gate was Molina's way into London, a gate only passable in the mind.
Fast forward to 2008, Molina set off on an experimental solo tour through Europe. While in Northern Italy, Molina claimed to have been bitten by a rare, poisonous spider. A debilitating bout of illness ensued. "I was in the hospital here in London," Molina wrote in a letter. "Saw six doctors and a Dr. House-type guy. They are all mystified by it, but I am allowed to be at home, where I am taking a dozen scary Hantavirus type pills a day that are all to supposedly help - but they make me feel like shit." There is no record of a single doctor visit, not any prescription record for these medications. It is entirely plausible there was no spider and that whatever was keeping him indoors during this time was entirely self-induced. While at home, he of course wrote songs. Molina also claimed that during this time, he fed several bright green parrots that would gather in his yard. While often associated with a greyscale sensibility, Molina was oft-clad in a Hawaiian shirt and had, at least in part, selected the name Songs: Ohia for his first project as a nod to Hawaii's 'Ohi'a lehua flower. Which is all to say, the tropical element the parakeets brought to those sick days delighted Molina. He made short, crude field recordings of them with his trusty four-track. Only once Molina was officially on the mend and re-exploring the streets of London would he learn that those parrots had their own fabled tale. Back in the 60s, Jimi Hendrix - in a moment of psychedelic clarity - released his pair of lime green ring-necked parakeets from their cage, setting them free into the London sky. Now, their decendents are spotted regularly around certain parts of the city. Or so we're told. Eight Gates is the last collection of solo studio recordings Molina made before he passed from complications related to alcoholism in 2013. Recorded in London around the time of the supposed spider bite and Jimi's supposed parakeets, some of the songs ("Whispered Away," "Thistle Blue") are fully-realized - dark, moody textures that call to mind his earlier work on The Lioness. Knowing what we know about those parakeets and their peppered presence on the recordings, one can't help but think of that colorful tree of birds on Talk Talk's classic Laughing Stock, certainly a spiritual guide for much of the set. Other songs ("She Says," "The Crossroads and The Emptiness") lay in a more unfinished states, acoustic takes that call to mind Molina's Let Me Go Let Me Go Let Me Go, and still tethered to Molina's humorous studio banter. You remember how young Molina was, and how weighty this art was for such a young man. On the closer, "The Crossroads and The Emptiness," Molina snaps at the engineer before tearing into a song in which he sings of his birthday (December 30), a palm reading and the great emptiness with which he always wrestled. It is a perfect closer and, in many ways, the eighth gate incarnate: mythical, passable only in the mind, built for himself and partway imaginary but shared, thankfully, with us.
Another Sky -"I Slept On The Floor" Another Sky will release debut album, I Slept On The Floor, via Missing Piece Records. Stepping into the spotlight with their performance on Later... with Jools Holland, the band earned praise from Paste, The FADER and NPR. Frontwoman Catrin wryly credits some of the early success to the fact her distinctive, haunting vocals are frequently mistaken for those of a male singer. "People say I sound like a man - maybe that means they'll listen." Limited Edition LP pressed on dark green vinyl.
To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of his debut album, A New Day Yesterday, Joe Bonamassa is releasing a newly re-mixed and re-recorded version called, A New Day Now. Joe re-sang all the vocals over and played new guitar tracks on some songs too. Kevin Shirley remixed the album. This version includes 3 bonus tracks produced by Stevie Van Zandt (written by Stevie and Joe) which were demos from the 90's that never made it on to any records. Never heard before vintage Joe!
Vinyl LP pressing. Sound Wheel is artist and musician Alison Mosshart's first solo spoken word album and companion piece to her new printed collection of paintings, photographs, short stories and poetry, Car Ma. It is an album about cars, rock n' roll, and love. It's an album about America, performance, and life on the road. It's an album about fender bender portraiture, story tellin' tire tracks, and the never-ending search for the spirit under the hood. Mosshart imagines the auto body shop like some other Coney Island. And America's highways - the last great roller coasters. She shows us that the engine on fire is connected to the guitar feeding back since birth. And the sensation of walking on stage and facing an audience is like the laugh before the scream in a car without brakes. Mosshart ruminates that automobiles-with their doors and mirrors and windows, engines and wheels and radios- portray us. Mirror our need to be in or to exit, our inward reflections and outward visions, our lifetimes of tinkering with the mysterious heart. That which runs until it doesn't.

ROGER WATERS: US + THEM, chronicles the acclaimed 2017-2018 tour of the iconic Pink Floyd artist. As the founding member, lyricist, composer and creative force behind Pink Floyd, US + THEM presents Waters powerful music in stunning form and highlights its’ message of human rights, liberty and love. Based around his acclaimed, sold-out US + THEM worldwide tour of 2017-18, comprising a total of 156 shows to 2.3 million people across the globe, it features classic songs from The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here as well as his most recent album, Is This The Life We Really Want?
Waters powerfully demonstrates that he is at heart, a musical activist and one of the most passionate political commentators of his time. He has dedicated his life to fighting against those who seek to control our lives and destroy our planet. Welcome To The Machine and Another Brick In The Wall Part II, are a stark reminder of the bleak warnings that he gave decades ago about alienation, displacement, greed, suffering, destruction and loss. And yet the humanity of the songwriter cannot be more plainly seen than in Wish You Were Here, because, although he presents a grim picture of the state of the world, ultimately his message is one of hope through unity and love.
Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is the title poem of the book and the first poem I wrote of many. Some of which came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem. They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I’m proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic. — Lana Del Rey….The recording includes 14 poems performed by Lana Del Rey accompanied by music from Grammy Award-Winning songwriter/producer Jack Antonoff.
Midnight Manor, the much anticipated sophomore album of the six-piece rock outfit The Nude Party is set for release on October 2nd via New West Records. Following two years of non-stop touring in support of their eponymous debut release, the band returned to their farmhouse in New York's Catskill Mountains to record the follow up to their acclaimed 2018 self-titles debut.
Like The Band's sacred home-recording habitat The Big Pink, The Nude Party's communal dwelling provided the landscape and proximity to focus on deepening their bonds through music. It was at the Manor that the band of childhood friends could shift their energies from the archetypical emotional journeys of mid-twenty-somethings towards rebuilding their road-worn relationships with one another, leading them to write Midnight Manor- an album that lead singer Patton Magee describes as "a stone skipping over troubled waters."
With Midnight Manor, The Nude Party shine a light on their past while at the same time moving towards a brighter future.

Here to bust out of Doledrum, clad in a t-shirt that screams "SOCIALISM" and armed with drum machine, synth, pedal and icy stare are Working Men's Club. Named after the wood paneled, community-run venues 18-year-old band leader and singer Sydney Minsky-Sargeant used to sneak into under age. It was at home in the town of Todmorden in West Yorkshire, feeling hemmed in, that Syd first began assembling these ten songs. "There's not much going on, not much stuff to do as a teenager," he says. "It's quite isolated. And it can get quite depressing being in a town where in the winter it gets light at nine in the morning and dark at four." Their eponymous debut is equal parts Calder Valley restlessness and raw Sheffield steel, as it was across the Pennines that Working Men's Club's hard edged electronic sound was forged under the watchful ear of producer Ross Orton (The Fall, M.I.A., Arctic Monkeys). Guitars locking horns with floor-filling beats, synths masquerading as drums and Minsky- Sargeant's scratchy, electrifying bedroom demos brought to their full potential by Orton's blade-sharp yet sensitive production.

The legendary original soundtrack to Cowboy Bebop is finally available on vinyl!
The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motley lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool façade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can't wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein. On their own, any one of them is likely to get lost in the sprawl of space, but together, they're they most entertaining gang of bounty hunters in the year 2071.
Composed and performed by Yoko Kanno and the band SEATBELTS, the music of Cowboy Bebop is one of the signature elements of the series. The energetic jazz-infused pieces rip and roar across the stars and are as indispensable as the crew of the Bebop themselves. This release is pressed on a pair of black vinyl discs housed in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves while the Swordfish/Red Tail variant is presented on red and purple vinyl.

Recorded live in RCA's Studio B in Nashville over the course of an epic five day/night run in June 1970 (with an additional session on September 22), Elvis' performances from those sessions formed the core of three of his most successful studio album releases from the 1970s: Elvis: That's the Way It Is, Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old) and Love Letters from Elvis.
Now, for the first time, the master recordings from the 1970 Studio B sessions may be enjoyed together as a single official Elvis album. On From Elvis In Nashville, Presley's studio tracks from the 1970 marathon sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spring (John Prine, Jason Isbell) without the added overdubs or orchestration appearing on earlier releases.
